Recognizing my desire to return to healthcare IT, CEO Jonathan Leonard offered me a position as a remote IT specialist wherein I would coordinate with the onsite tech to complete projects. Further, I took on the role of web designer for the organization where I rebuilt and maintain the health center’s website.

My responsibilities as IT Specialist included the installation and support of computer hardware and software, light management of the NextGen EMR system, and contributions to IT policies and procedures.

The Ajo Observer

Aug 2011 – Sep 2012

I was of the opinion that my Ajo’s only newspaper was reporting some stories with a noticeable bias and so I created a website where members of the community could share their own news. I envisioned a crowd-sourced newspaper which worked pretty well for a few months but, after a year, I shut it down after interest in the site had declined.

Sales Associate

K-5 Enterprises / RadioShack

Nov 2010 – Nov 2012

I had returned to Ajo after failing to find work after American Home became a victim of the housing market bubble burst. Unable to find work in Tucson because of the Great Recession being in full swing, I returned to my home town in the hopes of finding some work and waiting out the recession. On top of my sales associate duties, K-5 Enterprises began utilizing my skills in PC repair to offer the community services.
